The ELEKTRA Virtual Museum (EVM)
The ELEKTRA Virtual Museum (EVM) goes far beyond the traditional de
finition of a museum. As an online platform for
exchange, promotion, and dissipation of contemporary art, this museum is accessible to visitors worldwide, beyond the
limited accessibility characterizing conventional art venues. In addition to the classic museum activities like exhibitions,
openings, guided tours, and discussion forums, the platform will be a professional meeting and marketplace where
artists, curators, collectors, and art lovers can meet, discuss, trade, and collaborate. With this museum, ELEKTRA will
share its 20 years of expertise in the
field, supporting and promoting artists locally and internationally.
EVM is a step towards rethinking the museum in the 21st century. For ELEKTRA, it is essential to demonstrate that our
practice in contemporary digital art can withstand obstacles of the present moment, that artists have diverse avenues of
promotion, and that the public, art lovers, and buyers have diverse avenues to encounter contemporary and digital art.
In addition to being a versatile place, a professional meeting place for discussion, exchange, and collaboration, EVM is
also a service to artists from around the world interested in expanding their practice into online and 3D spaces, a
platform to increase visibility and discoverability. These are signi
ficant factors in determining the value of their works.
The Experience
The EVM offers a unique 3D experience that goes beyond the virtual tours that have already been offered by ELEKTRA.
When entering the EVM, visitors are confronted with an enormous architectural structure, a biomorphic form inspired by
blob architecture. With parametric principles, curves, and diffracted volumes the architecture frees itself from the laws
and technicalities of the physical world, allowing for an unusual, non-symmetrical composition to emerge. Within this
structure, visitors discover works of art that exist in the real world and have been modeled and adapted for display in this
3D museum space. Between dream and reality, the ELEKTRA Virtual Museum and its programming reinvent itself, a
polymorphic, cognitive, immersive, and interactive audio-visual experience.
