    최성록, Stroll, Scroll and Sight
    <Stroll, Scroll and Sight> 은 한 인간이 역경을 헤쳐나가는 모습을 미디어의 역사에 의해 만들어진 세 가지 시점으로 보여준다. 드론의 시점, 이인칭 컴퓨터 게임 시점, 그리고 가상적 일인칭시점을 통해 관객은 신이 되거나 게이머가 되어 가상의 공간을 경험한다. 작가는 인간과 예술 그리고 기술과의 관계성을 눈과 귀, 몸으로 경험하도록 유도하며 현실과 가상의 세계를 넘나드는 우리 인간의 명상적 이야기를 전달한다.

    에이미 하이벨은 캘리포니아 탐사보도센터에서 저널리즘을 시작으로 크리에이티브 디렉터로서 루브르, 런던 내셔널 갤러리, 메트로폴리탄 아트 뮤지엄, 테이트 모던, SFMOMA, LACMA, 게티 등 매년 200개 이상의 프로젝트에 참여했다. Scripps College에서 학사 후 UC Berkeley에서 철학으로 석사 학위를 받은 그녀는 1997년부터 9년간 뉴 디지털 미디어 테크놀로지를 이용한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 개발하며, 샌프란시스코, 뉴욕, 런던, 파리에 있는 크리에이티브 팀과 테크니컬 팀을 이끌었다. 이후 LACMA의 뉴미디어 헤드로 2년간 활동한 뒤, 2011년부터 현재까지 디렉터로서 LACMA의 Art+Technology Lab 개설 및 모든 웹과 디지털 미디어 전략 및 뮤지엄 테크놀로지 시설을 총괄 담당하고 있다.

    아르스 일렉트로니카 페스티벌 총괄 디렉터, 린츠, 오스트리아

    마틴 혼직은 작가로 활동하면서 아르스 일렉트로니카 페스티벌, 쁘리 공모전, 전시 부문의 대표직을 겸임 중이다. Linz Art University에서 시각실험예술학과를 전공했고 동대학원과 ICCM Salzburg에서 culture & media management 석사과정을 졸업했다. 1998년부터 2001년까지 OK Center of Contemprary Art 제작팀에 재직한 뒤 2001년 부터 2005년까지 Ars Electronica Future Lab에서 전시 기획, 미술 건축, 인터페이스 디자인, 행사 및 프로젝트 디자인 등의 업무를 맡았다. 2006년부터는 센터 내 페스티벌, 쁘리 공모전, 전시회 부서와 그 외에 국제 프로젝트를 기획하고 실행했다. 최근, 젊은 작가 발굴을 위한 프로젝트 u19-CREATE YOUR WORLD를 설립했고 2012년에는 제작 및 연출을 맡았다.

  • 배명지 (Myungji Bae)

    국립현대미술관 학예연구사, 과천, 한국

    배명지 큐레이터는 홍익대학교 예술학과를 졸업하고 동대학원 미술사학과에서 현대미술사로 석사학위와 박사과정을 수료했다. 2004년부터 2015년까지 코리아나 미술관의 책임 큐레이터로 재직하면서 20여 회 이상의 국내외 전시를 기획했다. 최근에 기획한 주요 전시로는 <Tell Me Her Story> (2013), <Performing Film> (2013), <Featuring Cinema> (2011) 등이 있고, 2006년 기획한 <이미지 극장(Image Theater)>전은 한국문화예술위원회로부터 <올해의 예술상>을 수상한 바가 있습니다. 현재 국립현대미술관 학예연구사로 재직 중이다.

    정화용, 만트라
    디지털 오브제 그리고 인간이 만들어내는 몸의 언어와 소리는 시작과 끝이 없는 디지털 파노라마 속으로 스며들어 새로운 순환의 미학적 형태가 탄생한다. 전통무용 승무, 그 번뇌를 이겨내려는 인간의 역동적이고 섬세한 움직임과 컴퓨터 코드가 우연히 만들어내는, 때로는 철저하게 계산된 이미지들은 인간만이 만들어 낼 수 있는 고유한 아름다움과 기계가 만들어내는 이미지들로써 기계와 인간의 끊임없는 교감을 보여준다.

    김형규, 바람을 듣다_경계의 저편
    360 Degree View라는 미디어 환경은 관객을 일방적 수용자가 아닌 중립적 방관자 또는 주체적 관찰자로 만들어준다. 관객은 임진각 전망대, 강화도 연미정, 용산 재개발 예정지구, 그리고 광화문 이순신 동상의 시선에서 360도로 바라본 풍경을 직면하게 되며 이미지적으로 대립되어 있는 ‘남과 북’, ‘세대와 세대’, ‘개인과 집단’의 경계 지점에서 주체적 관찰자가 된 관객들에게 근원적인 질문을 던진다.

    장석준, 평평한 도시
    평평한 컴퓨터 화면 안에 담긴 현대 사회의 풍경은 마우스의 줌인아웃 스크롤 운동으로 도시를 이해시키며 <평평한 도시>는 온라인 지도 속 멀어지고 가까워지는 가상의 움직임을 실제 공간에서 드론으로 재현한다. 서로 다른 위치에서 촬영된 영상은 각 좌표의 프레임으로 나뉘어져 풍경의 파편과 전체를 수직으로 이동하며 새로운 감각의 미디어 풍경화를 그려낸다.

    국립현대미술관, 서울관, 미디어 큐레이터, 서울, 한국

    최흥철은 현재 국립현대미술관 서울관 큐레이터와 드로잉 릴레이 프로젝트 반쥴-샬레(Banjul-Schale) 디렉터 직을 겸임 중이다. 1996년 서울대학교 조소과를 전공하고 1998년에는 동대학원에서 석사학위를, 2013년에는 국민대학교 미술 이론 박사학위를 수료했다. 2011년부터 현재까지 현대미술과 미디어 아트 부문의 다양한 전시와 프로젝트를 기획해왔다. 주요 전시로는 2014년의 국립현대미술관 서울관에서 개최된 <초자연: Supernature>, 2013년 고흥 남포미술관의 <은하철도의 밤: A Night on the Galactic Railroad>, 그리고 2011년 아르코 미술관의 <몹쓸 낭만주의: Bad Roman- ticism> 전시가 있다. 그 외에도 2008년 서울시립미술관에서 제5회 서울 국제 미디어 아트 비엔날레 외에 다수의 전시와 프로젝트를 기획한 바 있다.

  • 로렌 코넬 (Lauren Cornell)

    뉴 뮤지엄 오브 컨템포러리 아트, 미디어 큐레이터, 뉴욕, 미국

    2005~2012년 Rhizome 총괄 디렉터 이자 New Museum 초대 큐레이터인 로렌코넬은 2015 New Museum Triennial: Surround Audience의 공동 기획을 맡고 있다. 2009년 트라이 에니얼 Walking Drifting Dragging, Free 전시 외에 Xavier Cha, Jill Magid, Trevor Paglen 등의 작가들과 라이브 이벤트와 퍼포먼스를 기획했으며, 2010년부터 매해 개최되는 Seven on Seven 컨퍼런스를 설립했다.
    저서로는 <Frieze, Mousse>, <LTTR, North Drive Press>, <The Paris Review> 등이 있으며, Ed Halter와 공동 집필로 (MIT Press/ New Museum, 2015)가 있다. 로렌 코넬은 2013년부터 현재까지 Bard Center for Curatorial Studies 교수로 재직중이다.

    이성재, 대답되지 않은 질문
    멀리서 바라보는 산의 모습은 정적이고 느리게 느껴지지만 작고 빠른 요소들이 산을 구성하며 전체를 이루고 있다. 마찬가지로 는 천천히 움직이는 추상적인 형태 속에 사람이나 나무와 같은 작은 요소들로 구성된다. 작가는 고속 촬영 기법을 작품에 활용하여 오랜 시간을 걸치며 겪는 인간의 육신과 정신의 변화과정 및 개인과 집단의 지속적이고 영원한 관계성을 대변한다.

    JUNGWON SEO

    Seoul artist Jungwon Seo’s We Maketh God considers what sort of art an AI may create. Shot in black and white and slowed to stretch each moment into suspense, the video brings the drama of the Renaissance into the present, creating a space to contemplate the history we are living and making each day. The effect is subtle, yet powerful. Seo makes viewers aware that while we may not feel the significance of our actions—both collective and individual—they will reverberate in unpredictable ways for years, possibly centuries, to come.

    Director, The Whitworth, University of Manchester

    Lee is a director of the Whitworth at The University of Manchester. She curated Nam June Paik at Tate Modern in 2019 with Rudolf Frieling, which was on tour to institutions in Europe, USA, and Asia until early 2022. She has also curated several collection exhibitions and displays at Tate Modern, including A Year in Art: Australia 1992 (2021-23), CAMP: From Gulf to Gulf to Gulf (2019-20) and Xiao Lu and Niki de Saint Phalle (2018-19). Lee was previously Exhibitions & Displays Curator at Tate Liverpool and curated a number of exhibitions and collection displays including Doug Aitken: The Source and Thresholds (2012-13, as part of Liverpool Biennial).

    Lee was a Senior Curator of International Art since 2019 she had been led the ‘Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational’ and the Artistic Director of the 14th Gwangju Biennale in 2023. She also served as the Commissioner and Curator of the Korean Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale (2015). Lee has convened and participated in several international symposiums and conferences at the Tate and internationally, including From Alexandria to Tokyo: Art, Colonialism and Entangled Histories (Digital conference with Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, 2020), Axis of Solidarity: Landmarks, Platforms, Futures (Tate Modern, 2019), and Territories Disrupted: Asian Art after 1989 (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, 2017). She has also written and lectured widely on modern and contemporary art, and her publications include Nam June Paik (with Rudolf Frieling, exhibition catalogue, Tate Publishing, 2019) and MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho (exhibition catalogue, Korean Pavilion, Venice Biennale, 2015).

  • CHRISTOPHER PHILLIPS

    Independent Curator & Critic

    Christopher Phillips is an independent curator and critic based in New York City. He is a board member of Asia Art Archive in America, and a contributing editor of the magazine Art in America. He teaches courses on the history and theory of photography and media art at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.
    From 2000 to 2016 he was a curator at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York. He has organized many exhibitions that examine
    contemporary Asian photography and media art. These exhibitions include Between Past and Future: New Photography and Video from China (2004, co curated with Wu Hung); Atta Kim: On-Air (2006); Shanghai Kaleidoscope (2008); Heavy Light: Recent Photography and Video from Japan (with Noriko Fuku, 2008); Wang Qingsong: When Worlds Collide (2011); Han Youngsoo: Photographs of Seoul 1956-63 (2016); Life and Dreams: Contemporary Chinese Photography and Media Art (2018); and Zheng Guogu: Photoworks 1993-2016 (2019).

  • RODERICK SCHROCKK

    Curator, Executive Director of Eyebeam

    Roderick Schrock is a curator and arts executive. Since 2015, Schrock has been the Executive Director of Eyebeam in New York City, an institution dedicated to supporting art that engages technology. There, he manages the functional capacities of the organization’s direct artist support and guides its focus on supporting work that aims to realign societal relationships to emergent technologies. He received an MFA from Mills College and currently teaches in the Curatorial Practice MA Program at the School of Visual Arts and has taught at the Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music (STEIM), California College of the Arts, and New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. He sits on the Netherlands America Foundation Cultural Committee and is a founding board member of Art+Feminism.

    He has been an active practitioner in digital and sound art, living and working in Japan and continuing studies in the Netherlands. He has served on, and nominated for, local and international art award committees. His essays have been published by MIT Press, and he writes regularly for online publications, such as Hyperallergic. He has previously written for New Music Box, Fucking Good Art, and e/i Magazine. As a sound artist, Schrock has been commissioned by Meet the Composer, the American Music Center, The Netherlands America Foundation, and Ostrava New Music Days, among others.

  • AARON SEETO

    Director, Museum MACAN

    Aaron Seeto is the Director of Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN) since 2016. He has experience with working to advance the goals of contemporary arts organizations and curating significant exhibitions for artists from Asia to Pacific regions.

    Seeto was formerly a Curatorial Manager of Asian and Pacific Art, at Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia where he led the curatorial team at the eighth Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT8) in 2015. For eight years prior, he was the Director of Sydney’s ground-breaking 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art.

    PARIBARTANA MOHANTY

    Paribartana Mohanty grew up in the coastal East Indian state of Odisha and now lives in Delhi, but remains driven by the ecological concerns of his home region. For his VH AWARD project, Mohanty traveled more than 10,000 kilometers of the Indian coast to witness and document the effects of natural disasters including cyclones and tsunamis. His video, Rice Hunger Sorrow, follows two protagonists to the ocean and forest, asking continually, “who is the mightiest?” The answer, though never spoken, is perhaps best left as a reflection on our own lack of might in the face of mother nature.
